Research And Studying Resources
Office Hours
Talking to your professor during their office hours is a great resource! Professors often have their office hours listed in their email signature file, as well as in their syllabi. If you are not available during their listed time, send them an email asking about their availability during a timeslot that works better for you. Additionally, many issues can be solved by simply asking a question over email or right after class. If your course has a TA, they are another great resource for help.
Crosset Library
While the librarians might not be equipped to help with every research question, they can be a great resource to point you in the right direction. Additionally, the Crosset website has a HUGE database with TONS of articles on every subject. Through Crosset Library you can gain free access to many peer-reviewed articles and books. They can also find you more articles via Interlibrary Loan.

Sci-Hub, Lean Library, and Research Gate
Many articles are hidden behind paywalls. Researchers seldom see a cent from article purchases. You can often get around these paywalls using various methods.
Sci-Hub is one particularly badass and based way to do so. The goal of Sci-Hub is to provide free and unrestricted access to all scientific knowledge. According to them, dispite many attempts at legal action under the grounds of copyright violation or piracy, the project is legal, while restricting access to information and knowledge is not.Sci-Hub
Lean Library is a browser extention which identifies open source access to articles. This is through Sage Journals; a very popular journal for social science research.Lean Library
Research Gate is a social-media-esque website where you can follow researchers you admire and get notified about their new work. Researchers often upload their reserach directly through the website, and where the article is not available for download, it provides an avenue to reach out directly to the researcher about gaining access to their work.

Citations
Scribbr, Mendeley, and Chegg
Scribbr is a free website and browser extention that can quickly create citations in whichever style you choose (APA 7th is what psych uses) and organizes them in lists for you. It can identify when you are on an article and quickly create a citation for it in one click!
Scribbr
Mendeley is a great place to store articles and citations for each of your projects. It can watch a folder on your desktop and silently upload every article you download to it into an organized folder within the app. Mendeley is available as a free app, website, and browser extention. All three work well together to provide you access to all of your articles from any computer.
Mendeley
Another popular citation website is Chegg. It is free with ads.

Efficient Reading
Skimming is lifesaving! Always start by reading the abstract first; if you don't think the article fits your line of inquiry, move on. Identify what kind of information you are looking for from the article.
-
Abstract → trying to find an article
- Introduction → grasping the broader research conversation
- Method → critique or inspiration
- Results → common focus
- Discussion → also common
- Conclusion – uncommon, inspiration
Structural Overview
Skimming 101
- Read section headers
- Read the first sentence in each paragraph
- Read vertically ! grab a word or two per line
- STOP if you get confused! Slow down until you understand
